The Aberdare ranges make up as the most major tourist attractions, Aberdare National Park, covering altitudes of about 7,000ft to 14,000 ft above seal level makes a perfect set on the Aberdare moorland. Aberdare national park is approximately 180 kilometers north east of Nairobi, the national park is a major tourist attraction making it one of the best places visited and loved by travelers from all over the world.
The park has a good number of the big five, this is, the elephant, lion, buffaloes, rhino and giraffes. You also bond to meet with the elusive bongo antelope, a trip to aberdare national park will mostly make up the bigger safari itinerary that takes in Samburu national reserve, the amboseli and the most renowned maasai mara.
The park is endowed by some of the best lodges you can ever find anywhere in Kenya, the most popular lodges have treetops tree house lodges which in actual sense are built deep inside the park, guest on this lodges are entertained by the sights of wild animals in their natural habitat. Some lodges are built as ark structures mimicking the shape of the Noah’s ark, the national park has three self-help banda sites, a public campsite and eight special campsites all located in the moorland.
For picnic lovers, there are about 5 picnic sites all located at good secure points where one can sight wildlife. Most of these structures are placed in a central waterhole where wild animals come to sip water and sometime cool from the hot simmering sun.
