Amboseli National Park
Amboseli National Park is one of the most popular national parks in East Africa, the national park is endowed by such beautiful sights, the impressive 5000ft snow capped Kilimanjaro crowns every wildlife view. The best time to view this mountain is at dawn and sunset, the dawn sight is quite clear and beautiful. Most people flock the Amboseli national park just to behold the sights of strolling herds of elephants across the Plains.
The Amboseli national park is located around 200km from capitol city Nairobi, the road infrastructure is fairly good, however one needs an 4wd to cover the last leg into the National park, the road is abit bumpy and may be quite rough and muddy when rains sets in. One can opt to have some flight arrangements with some local flight operators such as air Kenya. The Amboseli National park boarders the Tsavo East National Park and Kilimanjaro and Arusha national parks both of which are in Tanzania.
The park is one of the smaller game parks in Kenya, but offers a wide range of wildlife, the endangered black rhino can easily be spotted on Amboseli plains, the vegetation is a bit low and well mulched ensuring easy spot of wildlife. Some sight spectacles can be a lion stalking a prey or mating wildlife. Human park encroachment is quite catching up with the wildlife natural habitation; however the Kenya Wildlife Society is fighting hard to preserve the serenity of the National park.
