One thing notable about Samburu National Reserve is that its less crowded compared to other national parks, the park is situated on the banks of Ewaso Ngiro river which is perfectly placed in the dry northern Kenya. The river is the lifeblood of livelihood in the region, both natives and wildlife depend on the river for nourishment. Wildlife a particularly seen during the dry seasons as they come to drink from the Ewaso Ngiro fountains.
The park has an array of wildlife which includes, lions, Giraffes, the endangered gravy Zebra. The vegetation is mild making it easy to spot game at a distant. A good sight to see is that of gerenuks, these are odd gazelles that have long necks and stand on their hind legs while grazing, the park has around 365 bird species mostly concentrated along the river. Across the river is the most notable Buffalo Springs National reserve, nearby one overlooks the swampy wilderness of the Shaba National Reserve.

Accommodation in the park is quite luxurious; park lodges are built to meet certain themes. The cuisine is quite unique and tasty, some menu has on it game meat which is quite delicious, Samburu Interpids and Samburu Lodges are the most popular Safari lodges in the area. The reserve can be accessed on road as the infrastructure is fairly good but one may expect bumpy rides when deep in the park. Safari guides and Park security is well alert incase something
happens while at the park.
