Tarangire National Park
Tarangire National Park generally covers an extensive area and it is included among the largest national parks in the United Republic of Tanzania. Tarangire is a common transit destination for visitors traveling to the Ngorongoro National Park or the Serengeti National Park. This park is located within a short distance from Arusha town. The main attractions in this park include elephants, the beautiful scenery of vegetation dotted by baobab and acacia trees and strategic locations which enable visitors to view beautiful mountains and plains. In addition to the above, Tarangire offers visitors the opportunity to see different animals which come to this park at particular times of the year.
Apart from the elephants, it is interesting to mention that in this park, one gets to see the tree climbing lions and pythons as well. During the dry season, it is common for animals to congregate along the Tarangire River because it is the only reliable watering point for most of the animals inhabiting the park. Visitors will be impressed by the fact that there are accommodation facilities within this park and public campsites where visitors can relax and enjoy themselves.
Most of the terrains within the Tarangire National Park are best navigated by the use of four-wheeled vehicles as they have proved to be dependable when involved in long game drives. However, a saloon car would suffice if driving to smaller distances and specific areas where the terrain is smooth. Apart from watching animals, visitors can go for guided walks, hikes or picnics within the park.
